The meeting was opened by AFAA past-President Capt Tressie Waldo on 25-Feb-1998 at 1635 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. President Capt Karen Agres could not attend this year’s meeting due to mission demands.
Treasurer’s Report:
Major Bob Shumate reported a balance of $1106.80.
Committee Reports:
Newsletter Committee: Capt Thia Sabin mentioned that Capt Jill Juvan will take over duties of newsletter co-editor.
Old Business:
The purchase of a scanner for use on the web page was discussed briefly. Capt Shawn Gibson volunteered his services to scan items of interest alleviating the need to purchase a scanner.
New Business:
Maj Theresa Schulz brought up the topic of Specialty Recognition in Occupational Audiology which was discussed at the Military Audiology Association (MAA) meeting. The AFAA is also a part of the Petitioning Group and it may be necessary to contribute money towards the process of obtaining Specialty Recognition.
Capt Bob Eppens mentioned the web page and the hard work and time involved in that endeavor.
LtCol Craig Jordan suggested that AFAA contribute $50 per year to the MAA towards the fees to sustain the proposed top-level domain for the web page.
LtCol John Allen reminded the Executive Committee that Operation BANG may need a money contribution for materials.
Capt Eppens suggested updating and distributing e-mail addresses. Various methods of distribution were discussed including electronic dissemination not to include the web page for privacy concerns.
All business concluded, the past-President asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. A motion was made by LtCol Cari Sherris and seconded by Maj Schulz. The meeting adjourned at 1645.
