- Called to order by Maj. Jenny Rainwater at 1635 at Brooks Club, Room 1.
- Secretary Report: Mr. John Hall not present. Minutes e-mailed to members. No corrections noted. Motion moved to approve minutes as written by Col. Ben Sierra; seconded by Col. John Allen. Motion passed by majority vote.
- Treasurer Report: LtCol. Bob Shumate announced AFAA has $1251.19 in bank account. Recent check written to Loyal Pro for t-shirts in the amount of $284.48.
- Committee Reports
- Constitution and By–Laws: LtCol. Carolyn Bennett — Re–write to last year’s amendment for electronic voting.
- Membership: Nothing to report as members not present.
- Education and Training: Capt. David Pedersen — Nothing to report for previous year, but several items being worked on to be added to website.
- History and Archives: Maj. Stephen Steele — Digital pictures taken for past 2 meetings, but still need to be added to website.
- Public Relations: Col. John Allen — Nothing to report for previous year, but noted areas needing attention.
- New Member Presentation – Six new members present: Capt. Jeff Wisneski, Capt. David Eisenach, 1Lt. Brandon Tourtillott, 1Lt. Kwame Curtis, 1Lt. Jeff Graley, and 1Lt. Shannon Dettle.
- Old Business
- Amended By-Laws. A reminder that AFAA By-Laws were amended in 2002 to allow voting/correspondence via electronic means.
- Proposed AFAA Initiatives
- Scholarship or student stipend for AFAA member to attend NHCA.
- 1Lt. Jennifer Davis moved to have $500 established for scholarship; Col. John Allen seconded. Col. Ben Sierra mentioned need to have criterion for selection: full stipend versus dollar amount, who will be selected (nomination, dues paying member, Can it be supported? Will it be reoccurring?). Discussion continued regarding AFAAÕs focus is to be on promoting hearing prevention and money should be used for scholarship/stipend for individual representing Military Audiology. It was motioned that criterion/selection be handled by Education and Training Committee with Col. Ben Sierra as reference.
- 1Lt. Jennifer Davis and Col. John Allen agreed to amend original motion for a grant to foster the focus of audiology and to be determined annually; passed with majority vote.
- Maj. Will Lopez recommended that individual receiving grant write/present on conference/findings.
- Scholarship or student stipend for AFAA member to attend NHCA.
- New Business
- Dues: AFAA will be collecting dues this year in amount of $35 in order to maintain funds for projects
- LtCol. Craig Jordan: CD ROM that LtCol. Angela Williamson presented at MASC needs to be added to website and made accessible for students. The CD is a way to foster Audiology.
- Maj. Rob Pluta: Requested AFAA pay $75 to MAA for website. No motion needed.
- LtCol. Teresa Shultz: Recommended that Executive CommitteeÕs discretionary money amount be changed from $50 to $100. Col. John Allen moved for the change; LtCol. Teresa Shultz seconded. Passed via majority vote.
- 1Lt. Jennifer Tay recommended having AF Audiology booth at AAA. 1Lt. Jennifer Tay appointed as Chair with Col. John Allen assisting. LtCol. Craig Jordan recommended booth at AMES.
- Announcements
- Meals: 08 Apr 03 = Continental Breakfast; Pizza for Lunch; AFAA Dinner at Crumpets 1900. 09 Apr 03 = Full Buffet Breakfast
- Pay dues by COB 08 Apr 03.
- Capt. Sara Teufert married on 14 Feb 03.
- Maj. Eades married since seeing her last attendance at MASC.
