Converting Old Hearing Conservation Data

Are you using an obsolete software product to work with hearing conservation data? Are you in a panic because you’re unsure whether the data can be converted to work with newer software? We’ve got you covered.

“One of the first questions I’m asked by customers evaluating our hearing conservation software is how we can convert their old data,” David Mayou, Sales Manager for Benson Medical Instruments, recalls. Because hearing conservation analysis relies on past data, it’s of utmost importance to reliably import old data into the Benson Medical software to stay in compliance.

Customers can send us data or do a remote desktop session with our technical experts to export it (e.g., as an Excel spreadsheet or CSV file with comma-separated values). After we’ve converted the records to the customer’s specifications, we ensure quality results by having another expert verify that the records are correct before we deliver the data.

“I can’t tell you how knowledgeable they were,” said Tony Hoyle, owner of IH2S, an occupational medicine services company located in El Dorado, Arkansas. “I called Benson Medical up, told them when I needed it, and I thought it was a very reasonable price. They bent over backwards to do anything I needed, worked through everything to make it merge correctly, [and] were there every step of the way. No matter how many times we called, they did the conversion and made sure everything worked out fine.”

Another way we’re there for our customers is to coach them to have all OSHA-required fields and calculations filled out (e.g., gender, serial number of the instrument used, the audiometer’s calibration date). We also make recommendations for cleaning up conflicting or duplicate data, how particular fields should be mapped, or if some fields are not required.

Some customers convert data on an ongoing basis, and often rely on our expertise. One such customer is Dr. Richard Stepkin, an Audiologist for Enviromed, an occupational hearing services company located in Lindenwold, New Jersey.

“Whenever I had questions, I would call Benson Medical’s technical support and they would be there to help me with it. I go back to tech support; they’ve been wonderful. I’m extremely impressed with the service they have provided me.”
